Odisha, formerly known as Orissa is an Indian state in the eastern part of the country. It is a coastal state and is on the shore of Bay of Bengal. Odisha shares its boundary with four neighboring states. West Bengal and Jharkhand are on the north of Odisha. Whereas Chattishgarh lies on the west and Andhra Pradesh on the South. Coast line of the state along the Bay of Bengal is 485 Kilometres long. Area wise Odisha is the 8th largest state in the country. However it is the 3rd largest state when it comes to population.  Odisha got its reorganization as a state on 01 Apr 1936 and is celebrates as “Utkal Divas”. Major language here is Odia, although several local dialects are also in use. Moreover, Odisha has the third highest population of schedule tribes in the country.

Odisha consists of 30 districts which are further placed under three different revenue divisions for ease of Governance. Cuttack was the capital of Odisha until 1948. Afterwards Bhubaneswar became the state capital and currently houses majority of the Government offices including the state secretariat. Odisha is majorly an agricultural state and agriculture has a big contribution to its economy. However, it is also rich in natural resources. The economy of Odisha is growing at a steady rate and is above national average as per reports of Ministry of statics and program implementation. Tourism is yet another important contributor to the states economy. Odisha is a treasure house of tourist attractions which includes ancient temples and monasteries, mesmerizing waterfalls and lush green forest.
