Odisha shares its boundary with four neighboring states. West Bengal and Jharkhand are on the north of Odisha. Whereas Chattishgarh lies on the west and Andhra Pradesh on the South. Coast line of the state along the Bay of Bengal is 485 Kilometres long. Area wise Odisha is the 8th largest state in the country. However it is the 3rd largest state when it comes to population. Odisha got its reorganization as a state on 01 Apr 1936 and is celebrates as “Utkal Divas”. Major language here is Odia, although several local dialects are also in use.
